Graig Sneed's '32 Highboy Salt Racer -

Graig is from Springfield, Missouri, and has quietly been showing us some of the most well-thought out and well crafted models we've seen in recent years.

In Graig's on words:

"The Hi-Boy is the Revell-Monogram '32 Roadster kit that has been modified just a bit.

The chassis is from the kit. I trimmed it up here and there and added the mounts and braces that I needed to get the racy look that I was after. Just about everything inside the car is sratchbuilt. I turned some of the parts and used a wealth of aftermarket goodies as well. The motor is from an old AMT parts pack. I added all the wiring and plumbing to the car using parts from several aftermarket manufacturer.

The paint is Orange fingernail polish and house of color clear. I could go on and on."

Those are Parts By Parks Moon Disc wheel covers. Graig says that he modified the Revell kit "just a bit"!

That's a Detail Master Tachometer and gauge kit, gauge detailing wire, racing harness, and fittings and braided line. The pedals are from The Model Car Garage. That aluminum steering column bracket looks like a well-crafted homemade rigging, just like on a real race car!

The Moon Tank is a MacGowan Specialities item from Detail Master. It includes a photo-etched bracket kit, plus a turned-aluminum tank and cap. Notice the bolt-head details on the blower pulley, and the realistic lettering on the belt!

The grille is a Model Car Garage item. Notice that the front crossbar was replaced with a piece of aluminum tubing, and sealed with pinheads at each end. A nice touch.

Congratulations Graig. This one looks "right", ready for a run on the salt!
